Adding icons to your Notion pages and tables helps you quickly sort information on the page visually. It lets you categorize pages and items in databases according to not only a visual symbol, but colors and styles also.

In this tutorial, we will go over how to add icons to your pages and database properties in Notion.

How To Add Icons In Notion

  1. Navigate to the desired Notion page or workspace
  2. Click on the icon next to the page title, or hover above the page title and click 'Add icon'
  3. Choose from Notion's built-in emoji set, icons set, or upload a custom image
  4. Select the image/emoji of choice and click back into your page, the icon will now show up next to the page title
  5. To add an image as an icon, upload the image to Notion when prompted in the 'Custom' tab.
  6. To add an icon to a table item, navigate to the table item and repeat steps 2-4 after clicking on the table property name.

Step 1: Navigate to your desired Notion page

In order to add an icon to a page or workspace in Notion, you will first need to navigate to the page or workspace that you want to add the icon to. This can be done by clicking on the page or workspace in your sidebar or by searching for it using 'Ctrl/Cmd + P'

Step 2: Click on the icon next to the page title

Once you have navigated to the page or workspace that you want to add the icon to, you will need to click on the icon next to the page title. If it's a new page, you can hover above the page title and click 'Add icon'.

Step 3: Choose from Notion's emoji set, icons set, or upload a custom image

When you click on the icon next to the page title, you will be prompted to choose an icon. You can choose from Notion's built-in emoji set or icons set, or you can upload a custom image.

Step 4: Select the image/emoji of choice

Once you have chosen the image or emoji that you want to use as your icon, simply select it and click back into your page. Your icon will now show up next to the page title!

How do I put an image in the Notion icon?

If you want to use a custom image as your icon in Notion, you will need to upload the image to Notion from the 'Custom' tab option. To do this, simply follow the steps above and instead of choosing from Notion's pre-designed icons, select the 'custom' tab, then hit 'upload'. Then select the image from your computer and upload it to Notion. Once the image is uploaded, you will see it as you page icon--best to use square dimensions for these images!

Add Notion Icon To Table

In addition to adding icons to pages and workspaces, you can also add icons to tables and database properties. To do this, navigate to the table item you want to add an icon to and click on the name of the property, easily found at the top of each column in the 'Table' view.

From there, you can choose from Notion's built-in icons set.
