January 1, 2024

Filtering views in Notion is an excellent way to display only the information you want to see in your databases. In this tutorial, we'll show you how to create a filter that only displays entries in a table for "today".

Create a 'Today' Filter in Notion

To create a filter in Notion, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the database where you want to create the filter.
  2. Duplicate the view that you want to filter, and give it a new name (such as "Today's Entries").
  3. Click on the filter button in the top-right corner of the view.
  4. Select the property you want to filter by (in this case, "Date");
  5. Note: if you don't already have a 'date' property in your database, you'll need to create one now;
  6. Choose the value you want to filter for (in this case, "Today").
  7. This will only display the entries in the database that are for "today".

Customize Your Notion 'Today' Filtered View

Once you've created your filter, you can customize it by following these steps:

  1. Click on the filter button in the top-right corner of the view.
  2. Edit the property and value you're filtering for to show different information in the view. For example, you can change the filter to display entries for "tomorrow" or "yesterday".
  3. You can also use the options at the bottom of the filter menu to further customize your filter, such as using "and" and "or" statements to filter by multiple properties at once.

Use Your Filter

To use your filter in Notion, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the view you've created and filtered.
  2. This will only display the entries in the database that match the filter criteria you've set (in this case, entries for "today").
  3. You can use this view to quickly see and access the information you need for today, without having to search through the whole database.

That's it! You now know how to create and customize filters in Notion to display only the information you want to see in your databases. Try using this feature to save time and stay organized in your workflows. Happy organizing
