7 Ps of Marketing
Frameworks

The 7 Ps Marketing Mix is a framework used to aid the decision-making process involved with marketing; specifically it helps businesses determine how to deal with the 7 key areas of marketing.

What are the 7 Ps of Marketing, then?

  • Product
  • Price
  • Promotion
  • Place
  • People
  • Process
  • Physical evidence

Let's take a closer look at each.

Product

The first P is Product. This refers to the actual product or service that you're offering. What need does it satisfy? What are its key features and benefits?

You'll also need to think about your product mix, which is the range of products that you offer. For example, a company that sells eggs might offer a standard dozen, a dozen of eggs with six extra-large ones, or a dozen of eggs with six extra-large ones and two cartons of egg whites.

Price

The second P is Price. How much are you going to charge for your product or service? This will obviously be influenced by things like your costs, what your competitors are charging, and the perceived value of your product or service.

Promotion

The third P is Promotion. This is all about getting the word out there about your product or service and can include things like advertising, public relations, social media marketing, and direct marketing.

Place

The fourth P is Place. Where are you going to sell your product or service? This might be online, in a bricks-and-mortar store, or through a combination of both. You'll need to consider things like distribution channels, logistics, and location.

People

The fifth P is People. This refers to the people who are involved in selling your product or service, from the sales staff in your store to the customer service representatives who handle phone calls and emails. It also includes the people who make your product or service, from the factory workers to the designers and engineers.

Process

The sixth P is Process. This is all about the process that you use to sell your product or service, from taking an order online to delivering the product to the customer's door. You'll need to think about things like payment methods, delivery times, and returns policy.

Physical evidence

The seventh and final P is Physical evidence. This is anything that customers can see or touch that helps them make a decision about your product or service. It might be the packaging of your product, the design of your website, or positive testimonials and case studies from past customers.
